Observation

When a soon-to-be six uses the phrase "Not long after" in a conversation, it means she is reading too much Enid Blyton.

Edited to add on Dec 17: If she says "I am enraged", she is reading too much Amar Chitra Katha.

Hey what Enid Blyton is she reading? P loves Amar Chitra Katha and has read several EBs although he finds the language a little strange :) (Doesn't say the same thing about ACKs though!)

Purp, Scanman, yes, I agree. Go V.  As of now, the only time the girl does not read a book is when sleeping.  I am relieved that she has developed a good hobby, even if it DOES make a sizeable dent on the pocket.

Bhuvana: Noddy and Secret Sevens.  I don't think she understands the differences among Brit-based (Blyton), Indian-based (ACK) and American-based (Barbie/Princess Yech !) English yet.  Right now, it is funny how she mixes up styles and throws in a measure of "Buttler" English as well. E.g. When my class guys slammed (American) the spider that was hiding beneath (Brit) the chair, no (throw in the Indian intonation in "no"), I got enraged (Brit/Indian).
