Sadly, I had almost the opposite conversation with a friend/colleague I'd known for decades a couple of months ago. She's a tenured professor at a top-tier US university, had grant money, a great reputation, a husband that loves her, they have a beautiful home etc.

During our conversation (she'd just turned 50) she said, "You know,I thought by now I'd have accomplished something..." It was maybe the saddest thing I'd heard in a years.


Oh absolutely!!!! Contentment is so elusive to most people. The ones who possess it, are the ones who are happiest :-)
