What follows is NOT a rhetoric but a genuine question. Your answer to this would help me in my job.
When you are reading a semi-technical/technical document, when you read a sentence like the quote below, what would you feel?
The sentence is this:
"This XYZ model helps the manager map and measure the efficacy of her methods and tools of management."
Would the use of the feminine pronoun irk you? Would you think the writer is going out of her way to be feministic where it is not needed? Or would it be fair enough, since for many years now, the male pronoun has ruled?
Or would you feel better if "his/her" is used instead of any one specific type?
Or would you not even notice?
I'd appreciate your feedback.
